Meet Amy and Jaime
Amy is from Clinton, Iowa. Jaime is from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
We both currently reside in Marion, Iowa.
How did you meet? We met in June 2004 when Amy began working at Alliant Energy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Tell us your proposal story! Our engagement happened on the second day into our Vegas vacation in May 2006. It was a perfect day, from start to finish. After basking in the sun all day, we walked through numerous famous hotels on the strip. During dinner, we exchanged conversation about how we met, fun times we've shared, and how happy we are together.
After dinner, Jaime suggested going up in the Eiffel Tower in the Paris hotel. We rode the elevators up to the lookout point that reaches 500+ feet in the air. We joined 75+ tourists to view the start of the famous breathtaking Bellagio water show. After its conclusion, he turned to me and told me he was so glad he found his best friend, then proceeded to get down on one knee and asked me to marry him! The large crowd all watched as he proposed and applauded us in congratulations.
We stayed on the lookout for a while to savor the moment. We wanted to take it all in and remember this moment the rest of our lives.
When is the wedding? Our wedding is July 21, 2007.
What has been the toughest part of planning your wedding? The worst part of my planning is that none of my bridesmaids live close, so I have relied on the internet to communicate wedding decisions.
What is the Best part of planning your wedding? The best part of planning my wedding is how fun it is to plan every single detail for the most important day of our lives. My family has been of great help, but Jaime has been really great in helping with all the planning and decisions along the way.
Any secret wedding tips to pass along to other gals planning their wedding?: Have as much fun with the planning as possible.
Where do you each work? Jaime works at Alliant Energy as a Lead Analyst in the Financial Planning and Analysis Department. Amy is the Assistant Director of Marketing at the University of Iowa Alumni Association.
Tell us about your wedding! Our wedding ceremony will be held outside in a gazebo in a private park. Close family and friends will be in attendance to watch us exchange vows with reception to follow. The wedding will be very formal with red as the main color with black accents. Since Jaime proposed in the Eiffel Tower, we are incorporating that theme into the reception. We will create a romantic night in Paris ambiance for our guests that they will never forget.
Anything else special you care to add in?: We are very excited for our wedding day and look forward to sharing our special day with close family and friends.
